PSHS Entrance Examination

The PSHS National Competitive Exam  or PSHS NCE is a competitive exam administered to grade 6 students aspiring to enter Philippine Science High School. It is administered nationwide yearly.


CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

How to know if you/your child is eligible to apply for the PSHS National Competitive Examination (NCE)

Applicant must meet the following criteria:
  • Grade level: Grade 6 elementary pupil from a duly recognized school by the Department of Education
  • Grades:
    • Have a final grade of 85% or better in Science and Mathematics, evidenced by the student's report card.
    • If the student's grades in Science or Math are below 85%, proof that he/she belongs to the upper 10% of the batch;
  •     Citizenship: must be a Filipino citizen with no pending or approved application as immigrant to any foreign country;
  •     Have a minimum satisfactory Character Rating in his/her report card (SY 2019 - 2020);
  •     Has not have taken the PSHS NCE previously;
  •     Healthy and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Walk-in applicants:

  •     Duly accomplished application form
  •     Two (2) most recent identical 1x1 ID pictures
  •     Proof of Payment:
    •  Php 300 for private schools (pay at the PSHS Cashier)
    •  Free for public schools and private scholars
  •     Certified true copy of report card (SY 2019-2020) by the class adviser / principal.
    • Note: provide certification that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch if Math or Science grade is below 85%.
  •     If a scholar from a private school, certification or proof that the child is a scholar of the school.

For online applicants:

  •     Duly accomplished online form
  •     Scanned/Digitized copy of the attachments:
    • most recent 1x1 ID pictures
    • Proof of Payment:
      • Php 300 for private schools (paid first to Landbank)
      • Free for public schools and private scholars
    • Certified true copy of report card (SY 2019-2020) by the class adviser / principal.
    • proof/certification that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch if Math or Science grade is below 85%.
    • If a scholar from a private school, certification or proof that the child is a scholar of the school.

NCE INFORMATION

The PSHS National Competitive Examination, a scholastic aptitude test, is a single test that will be administered to the applicants. It will test the applicants' ability in various topics. The PSHS NCE will have the following coverage:

NCE Coverage:

  1.     Scientific Ability
  2.     Quantitative Ability
  3.     Abstract Reasoning
  4.     Verbal Aptitude

Exam Date (SY 2021- 2022):

  • PSHS NCE will be administered on February 6, 2021.


Reminders to Examinees on Exam Day

  1.     Be at your testing center one (1) hour before your scheduled examination (either a.m. or p.m. as indicated in the exam permit).
  2.     Present the Examination Permit and your school I.D. to the Proctor/ Room Examiner.
  3.     Bring at least two sharpened #1 pencils, a good eraser and snacks.
